Fashionista: Malaika Pearl

Posted by AfroElle On 3:39 AM
She’s beautiful, she’s fearless and never afraid to take risks, even in fashion. She is Zoë Glorious, also known as Malaika Pearl.

Malaika is a Tanzanian lady currently living in Kenya. The multi talented Zoe is also an actress at heart and her love for style goes beyond fashion as she also focuses on interior décor.

Let's meet her.

AfroE: Whats your signature style?

Malaika: Eclectic elegance.
My wardrobe is varied as it is classic. I keep up with the trends but yet pair them up with other timeless pieces so as to avoid screaming look at me!!!

AfroE: Whats your favourite accessory?

Malaika: My shades/stunners.
Not only are they practical but also stylish and gives you this sophisticated edge.
Mine have come through on those days when am a mess (especially when I am travelling) I just put them on and I look effortlessly glamorous.

AfroE: Who is your celebrity fashion icon and why?
Malaika: I draw my inspiration from anyone and everywhere. Although the Kardashian sisters have a way of putting it together seamlessly

AfroE: Whats your perfect everyday shoe?
Malaika: Cute Ballet flats.
They are so comfortable and I could run around in them all day and still look pretty

AfroE: What fashion trend do you think is overrated?

Malaika: Lumberjacks!!
I loved them up until the wide world started abusing them.
Seeing a person spotting a lumber jack after every two steps just killed it for me.

AfroE: What will you rock on a night out with the girls?

Malaika: One of the best things I have going for me is my legs, so I’ll keep my hemlines pretty short but not trashy.
I love shorts with a elegant top or one of a ladies essentials..little black dress –LBD and will most definitely accessorize with the perfect accessories depending on the dresses cut and style.
Oh, and I also keep my heels high

AfroE: What do you consider as fashion no-no's?

Malaika: Do not over do it!! And just because it’s trendy, it doesn’t mean you should be rocking it when it makes you look fugly. So I say No!! No to trends that does not team up with your pretty style.

AfroE:Whats your best fashion advice.

Malaika: Keep it elegant. I repeat, Do not over do it. Know what works for your body, for you then glam it up from there.

Malaika Pearl runs a fashion blog called Uhidaya where she analyzes new fashion trends, gives advice on whats hot and whats not and talks about everything fashion.
